Dillbeck, M. C.; and Abrams, A. I. The application of the Transcendental Meditation program to corrections. International Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice 11: 111–132, 1987.

This paper reviews the research results on the application of the Transcendental Meditation program in corrections, including improved mental health and reduced hostility among inmates, and reduced recidivism upon release. The authors propose the implementation of the Transcendental Meditation program in correctional settings on a large scale, in order to promote effective rehabilitation and thereby reduce the substantial financial and human costs of incarceration to society.
