Individuals who began the Transcendental Meditation program showed reduced frequency and severity of migraine headache, as demonstrated by three case studies.
- Health—General: Reduced Frequency and Severity of Migraine Headache

The practice of Transcendental Meditation led to more ideal levels of blood pressure in both hypertensive and normotensive subjects.
- Health—Cardiovascular: Reduction of Blood Pressure to More Ideal Levels in Both Hypertensive and Normotensive Subjects
- 1989· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 3Browne, G. E.; Fougère, D.; Roxburgh, A.; Bird, J.; and Lovell-Smith, H. D. Improved mental and physical health and decreased use of prescribed and non-prescribed drugs through the Transcendental Meditation Programme. Age of Enlightenment Medical Council, Christchurch, New Zealand; Heylen Research Centre, Auckland, New Zealand; and Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin, New Zealand, 1983.
Immediate and cumulative benefits for mental and physical health, and reduced use of prescribed and non-prescribed drugs were reported to result from the Transcendental Meditation program. The greatest improvements were reported by regular practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation technique.
- Health—General: Improvements in Physical and Mental Health Correlated with Duration and Regularity of Practice of the Transcendental Meditation Program

- 1989· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 4Dillbeck, M. C.; Mittlefehldt, V.; Lukenbach, A. P.; Childress, D.; Royer, A.; Westsmith, L.; and Orme-Johnson, D. W. A time series analysis of the relationship between the group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Program and crime rate change in Puerto Rico. Maharishi International University, Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and Maharishi International Caribbean, Fajardo, Puerto Rico, 1984.
Crime in Puerto Rico decreased when the number of individuals collectively practicing the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program exceeded the square root of one percent of the island's population.

- 1989· Psychosomatic Medicine· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 5Smith, D. E.; Glaser, J. L.; Schneider, R. H.; and Dillbeck, M. C. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Program. Psychosomatic Medicine 51: 259, 1989. Findings also published in AGE 10(4): 160, 1987.
Participants in the Transcendental Meditation program showed lower blood sedimentation rates than controls, which is associated with good health and younger biological age.
- Health—Aging: Lower Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate Levels Indicating Less Serious Illness and Slower Aging
- 1995· Hypertension· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 6Schneider, R. H.; Staggers, F.; Alexander, C. N.; Sheppard, W.; Rainforth, M.; Kondwani, K.; Smith, S.; and King, C. G. A randomized controlled trial of stress reduction for hypertension in older African Americans. Hypertension 26: 820–827, 1995.
Hypertensive individuals who learned the Transcendental Meditation program displayed reductions of high systolic and diastolic blood pressure after three months, in comparison to those practicing muscle relaxation and in comparison to controls receiving education about lowering blood pressure through modifying their lifestyle.

This study found that the Transcendental Meditation program reduced high systolic and diastolic blood pressure among all subgroups of hypertensive patients—both men and women, and both high and low psychosocial stress subjects—in contrast to control subjects. Those participating in the Transcendental Meditation program, irrespective of their subgroup on five other risk measures for high blood pressure—obesity, alcohol use, physical inactivity, dietary sodium-potassium intake, and an overall index of all risk factors—also showed reduction of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in comparison to control subjects.
