- 1982· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 3Jedrczak, A. Psychological correlates of experiences of higher states of consciousness in subjects practising the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme. Department of Psychology, MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, 1982.
Experiences of higher states of consciousness in subjects practicing the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program were found to be positively correlated with perceptual speed, flexibility, creativity, intelligence, field independence, and psycho-motor speed.

- Cognitive Performance: Correlations Found between Frequency of Clear Experiences in the TM-Sidhi program and Superior Performance on Tests Measuring Creativity, Intelligence, Field Independence, and Psychomotor Speed
- 1984· Perceptual and Motor Skills· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 3Jedrczak, A. The Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme and field independence. Department of Psychology, MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, 1982. Findings also appeared in Perceptual and Motor Skills 59: 999–1000, 1984.
Four studies provide evidence that the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program increases field independence.
- Cognitive Performance: Greater Field Independence

- 1985· The Journal of Creative Behavior· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 5Jedrczak, A.; Beresford, M.; and Clements, G. The TM-Sidhi program, pure consciousness, creativity and intelligence. The Journal of Creative Behavior 19(4): 270–275, 1985.
The number of months practicing the TM-Sidhi program and the clarity of TM-Sidhi experiences were associated with higher creativity and intelligence.
- Cognitive Performance: Higher Creativity and Intelligence Correlated with Duration of Practice of the TM-Sidhi program and with Clarity of TM-Sidhi program Experiences
- 1986· Journal of Clinical Psychology· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 5Jedrczak, A.; Toomey, M.; and Clements, G. The TM-Sidhi programme, age, and brief test of perceptual-motor speed and nonverbal intelligence. Journal of Clinical Psychology 42: 161–164, 1986.
Length of time practicing the TM-Sidhi program was associated with better performance on age-related psychological variables: visual memory, perceptual motor speed, and reaction time.
- Health—Aging: Duration of Practice of the TM-Sidhi program Predictive of Superior Performance on Tests Measuring Age-Related Psychological Variables: Non-Verbal Intelligence and Perceptual-Motor Speed
- 1988· Health Promotion· Research Review· Collected Papers Vol. 5Jedrczak, A.; Miller, D.; and Antoniou, M. Transcendental Meditation and health: An overview of experimental research and clinical experience. Health Promotion 2(4): 369–376, 1988.
The authors review the large body of research literature indicating improved individual and collective health through the Transcendental Meditation program, and propose that this program be applied on a large scale to improve public health and reduce health care costs.

- 1989· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 3Beresford, M.; Jedrczak, A.; Toomey, M.; and Clements, G. EEG coherence, age-related psychological variables, and the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme. Departments of Neurophysiology and Psychology, MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, 1983.
This study demonstrates the importance of EEG coherence in relation to the improvements in age-related psychological variables which are known to result from the practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program, thus emphasizing the importance of neurophysiological integration in the reversal of aging.

- 1989· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 3Jedrczak, A. The TM-Sidhi Programme and age-related psychological variables. Department of Psychology, MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, 1982.
Length of time practicing the TM-Sidhi program was found to be predictive of higher scores on seven age-related psychological tests measuring visual memory, creativity, field independence, perceptual speed, motor speed, reaction time, and non-verbal intelligence. Furthermore, length of practice was found to be a predictor of a younger functional age, as compared to chronological age, indicating that the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program produces changes in the opposite direction to those which usually occur with the aging process.
- Health—Aging: Length of Time Practicing the TM-Sidhi program Predictive of Superior Performance on Age-Related Psychological Variables—Visual Memory, Creativity, Field Independence, Perceptual Speed, Motor Speed, Reaction Time, and Non-Verbal Intelligence
- Health—Aging: Length of Time Practicing the TM-Sidhi program Predictive of Younger Functional Age
- 1989· Empirical· Collected Papers Vol. 4Jedrczak, A.; Cox, D.; and Cunningham, C. Pilot testing of subjects practising the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme: Neuroticism, anxiety, well-being, and the capacity for absorbing experiences. Department of Psychology, MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, and Department of Psychology, Institute of Psychiatry, London, England, 1982.
Subjects practicing the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program were found to have lower levels of anxiety and neuroticism and higher levels of well-being and sensitivity compared to norms.
- Psychological Health: Lower Anxiety
- Psychological Health: Lower Neuroticism
- Psychological Health: Greater Well-Being

The subjective experience of higher states of consciousness and the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field: Personality, cognitive-perceptual, and physiological correlates of growth to enlightenment. Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; Maharishi International University, Fairfield, Iowa, USA; and MERU Research Institute, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire, England, 1984.
Experiences of higher states of consciousness are found to represent a natural and empirically distinct dimension of human experience which is progressively unfolded through the regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program. The development of higher states of consciousness is shown to be accompanied by holistic improvements in mental and physical functioning.
- Self Development: Growth of Higher States of Consciousness
- Self Development: Growth of Higher States of Consciousness
- Self Development: Experiences of Higher States of Consciousness Correlated with: Better Self-Concept (Greater Self-Actualization, Greater Internality of Locus of Control); Greater Creativity (Greater Fluency, Greater Flexibility, Greater Originality); Profound Physiological Rest (Episodes of Spontaneous Breath Suspension during the Transcendental Meditation Technique); Greater Neurological Integration (High EEG Alpha and Theta Coherence during the Transcendental Meditation Technique); Greater Neurophysiological Efficiency (Faster H-Reflex Recovery); Superior Cognitive, Perceptual, and Motor Skills (Superior Perceptual Speed, Faster Motor Speed, Greater Psychomotor Speed and Flexibility, Higher Nonverbal Intelligence, Better Visual Memory); Less Symptoms of Stress (Lower Anxiety, Less Aggression, Less Depression, Less Introversion, Less Neuroticism); Greater Capacity for Absorbing Experiences; Participation in and Plans to Join Constructive Work and Social Activities (The correlates of higher states of consciousness summarized in this paper are drawn from both new experimental findings and the results of other studies reported in the volumes of this series.)
