King, Michael S. Deterrence, rehabilitation and human nature: The need for a holistic approach to offenders. Criminal Law Journal 24: 335–345, 2000.
This paper proposes that limitations of both deterrence and rehabilitation arise from their inability to systematically promote right action by addressing the whole person; it reviews scientific research findings on the Transcendental Meditation technique demonstrating reduction of physiological and psychological stress, and improved behavior among offenders who begin the practice.
