Löliger, S. A. Relationship between subjective bliss, 5-hydroxy-3-indoleacetic acid and the collective practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program. Dissertation Abstracts International 52(1): 551B, 1991.
Using time series analysis, this study found that increases in the size of a group of participants in the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi program, which includes Yogic Flying, were significantly associated with increased daytime serotonin turnover, increased subjective experience of bliss, improved quality of night sleep, and improved quality of experiences during the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program among participants. Moreover, increase in the subjective experience of bliss had a measurable effect of increasing serotonin turnover, indicating the effect of conscious experience on physiological functioning.
