Aron, E. N.; and Aron, A. The patterns of reduction of drug and alcohol use among Transcendental Meditation participants. Bulletin of the Society of Psychologists in Addictive Behaviors 2(1): 28–33, 1983.
Reduced use of tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana was found to result from the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. The pattern seen was one of a progressive, internally-motivated decline of drug usage as a natural consequence of positive developments in the individual's life.
