The effects of the Transcendental Meditation Program on the exercise performance of patients with angina pectoris. Department of Medicine, State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York, USA, and Buffalo Veterans Administration Hospital, Buffalo, New York, USA, 1975.
Patients with angina pectoris were found to have an improved tolerance to exercise after participating in the Transcendental Meditation program for eight months. Improvements included an ability to exercise for longer periods and to endure a higher work load.
- Health—Cardiovascular: Improved Exercise Tolerance in Patients with Angina Pectoris
- Health—Cardiovascular: Increased Maximum Workload in Patients with Angina Pectoris
- Health—Cardiovascular: Delayed Appearance of Electrocardiographic Abnormalities during Exercise (Delayed Onset of ST Segment Depression) in Patients with Angina Pectoris

Usefulness of the Transcendental Meditation program in the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. The American Journal of Cardiology 77: 867–870, 1996.
Patients with coronary artery disease who learned the Transcendental Meditation program showed in contrast to controls improved cardiovascular functioning—greater exercise tolerance, higher maximal workload, delayed onset of ST-segment depression, and decreases in rate-pressure product during exercise.
- Health—Cardiovascular: Improved Exercise Tolerance—Increased Exercise Duration in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
- Health—Cardiovascular: Increased Maximal Workload in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease
